I watched our Freshman President on TV tonight. This is his first major speech since the effing scumbags changed the NYC skyline. So much getting up and sitting down! You�d think they were in church! And the camera shots in the audience were like a Who�s Who of last week�s disaster.

Being the new guy has distinct advantages. Neither Clinton nor Gore could have pulled this off. They�ve been around long enough for us to hate them for what they�ve done to us. A hummer in the Oval Office is not like a Hummer blasting across Afghanistan. Maybe we�ll be able to respect the presidency again.

This is a time when we need leaders and heroes. Those NYC firefighters, the Mayor of New York and our President seem to be heroic these days.

He delivered his rhetoric perfectly. He was preaching to the converted.
